  • Stephanie | Lifestyle Maternity

  • I met Stephanie, Ryan and little Hannah at the Ocean side.
The family had just settled in after a cross country move from Saskatchewan.
Even just the thought of having her maternity photos near the ocean
was so exciting for all of them.
Hannah spent most of her time throwing rocks into water,
    as toddler do.
In just a short while, she will become a big sister,
and I get to go visit the family in their new home once they get settled in.

I have loved getting to know them,
and look forward to many more of our sessions together
as they navigate parenthood with two beautiful girls and
    the wonderful ‘island life’.

  • The Lee Family | Lifestyle Family

  • Let me tell you about the Lees
(Every time I say that the lyrics for ‘Let me tell you about the Birds and the Bees’ pop up in my head)

Maybe Ill start by telling you all the things that I love about the Lee Family

I love that the children are excited to see me

that they are comfortable around me and are wonderfully ‘themselves’

I love their sense of humour, the whole family.

I love that each of the kids is a perfect mix of wild and compassion

I love depth of Luke and the vulnerability of Grayson
I love that Anya holds her own in a beautifully spirited way.

    I love Debs laugh.

I love watching them with their children.
Its a perfect orchestra of chaos, fun, and affection.
This is very much like my own family life,
And so I always feel completely at home when I am with them.

I love that I get to capture them year after year.

Tonight Ill leave you with the Lee Family
and its easy to see how they have become one of my very favourites

They’ll likely become your favourite too

  • The Craig Family

  • I just loved this little family.
Norah and her ‘men’ met me at Blue Heron Park in Yellowpoint.
One of my favourite spots to bring families.
As usual it was perfectly wonderful, secluded and small
with great areas for the boys to do a little bit of exploring and even get their feet wet!
I loved the connection this family had and it was easy to capture it.
Never really having a ‘family photographer’ before they didn’t know what to expect.
But I think we got along just wonderfully!
Kids, Families and love are kind of my jam…and we had plenty of the here 🙂

Here are just a few of my favourites of the Craig Family!

  • Bill, Kelsey and Peyton | Lifestyle Family

  • Peyton was just the tiniest little peanut in her crib the first time I met her.
    Charlie…was still just a pup.
Over the years I have gotten to know and love Bill & Kelsey,
I love that I get to see them every year
    and watch Peyton grow.
This year they invited to me an amazing property they bought just last year.

This is where they spend their summer days.
Where she throws rocks and sticks for Charlie,
Where she’ll be covered in sand and dirt and learn to swim.

I love going to the places that mean the most to families.
It makes me smile to think of the memories that will be made on this beach.

Here are a few of my favourites of Peyton,
and the people that love her (and Charlie included…)

  • Mr & Mrs Murphy | Wedding

  • I know Ive told this story a few times, but I’m going to tell you all again.
I met Dan, Kaylee and Isla around Christmas last year, when I did a family session in their new home.
About 30 seconds after I took my shoes off, I knew I was amongst friends.
The session was one of my favourites, it wasn’t just Islas beautiful eyes and cheeky grin that won me over,
But all three of them together.
I just wanted them to be my friends.
Kaylee had admitted to me that she was my ‘biggest fan’.
By the time I had left, the feeling was mutual.
Somewhere in an amongst the cuteness that day, they mentioned they were getting married in the Spring.
    My ears perked up….
Then she mentioned they were having a taco bar!
    Well…now Im sold.
I basically told them that I NEEDED to shoot their wedding.
Thankfully, they let me document their Love AND eat Tacos.
    I was in Heaven.

They had an Intimate Ceremony, seaside, in Parksville
and then we headed back to their place to party.
I cried at two different times that day.
During their heartfelt, candid and sweet vows to one another,
while each of them took turns holding a very tired Isla
and then when Dan serenaded Kaylee with an original song he wrote for her.
Not a dry eye there that night.
    Amazing.
Every Second with them fun, carefree and easy going.
Just the same as our cozy session a few months before.

I cant wait to see what happens next with this adorable family

  • The Rodgers Family

  • I like to keep things pretty casual.
    Lets kids just be themselves.
This couldn’t be more true for the Rodgers family with their two boys.
This age in particular, kids (especially boys) are not keen on getting their photo taken.
So I let them take breaks, explore, pick up creepy things and then every so often come back to love their parents, how they want to.
To me, thats what makes a session.
And hopefully some great photos come out of, like the ones here.
The boys didn’t hold back for me, and I loved capturing them.
The session was filled with laughter, wet willies, fart jokes and the occasional mention of green boogers.
    Perfect.
I cant think of a better way to spend my saturday night.

Here are some of my favourites of the Rodgers Family!

  • Nick & Michelle | Married!

  • The good news first came by text.
After nearly 10 years together, Nick and Michelle were engaged.
When I saw my beautiful friend at one of regular girls nights, she had all of our attention as she told us the details.
One beautiful night, in Puerto Vallarta, at this very spot, Nick asked her to marry him.
All of us had tears in our eyes as we could see such happiness in her.

9 months later we were on a plane
headed back into the Sunshine to Celebrate ‘them’.
30 of their closest family and friends, gathered on a beach in Mexico
and witnessed them become husband and wife.

What an amazing day and an amazing week.
I was able to be there with them as their friend,
but also able to capture the whole day for them as their photographer.
What an honour. I feel so incredibly blessed.

    Congratulations to my wonderful friends,
what an incredible start to an exciting new chapter.

  • Henry | Lifestyle Family Portraits

  • The last time I saw Henry and his Moms I was quietly slipping out of their hospital room,
leaving the new family to get to know one another.
All night Victoria laboured and when it was time, it was Andies hands that helped bring him into the world.
And an amazing moment and one Ill never forget.

One year later I am so happy to see them again,
    and look at Handsome Henry!
What a stunning family they are.
Even his wonderful grandparents came for a few photos,
and so I really got a feel for the love that makes up Henrys world.

    What a lucky little man.
I cant wait to see them all again

  • Lynne & her Beautiful Family

  • I have a feeling I am not the only one in this life who is enchanted by Lynne.
She is the kind of woman, when you are in her presence she immediately makes you feel at ease.
There is a sparkle in her eye, and a kindness in her voice that made me feel as though I could cuddle up bedside her all day.
Maybe thats strange to some, but I know that her three beautiful daughters would agree with me.
The’ve likely been witnessing that ‘pull’ to her, their whole lives.
They are a strong family. All of them survivors in one way or another.
And while its not my story to tell, I hope that though these images you can feel that strength,
that love and the bond they all share.

And I didn’t just photograph the immediate family, I photographed the WHOLE family!
All the people closest to Lynne (Minus a few who couldn’t be there)
What a wonderful bunch they are and what a wonderful way for me to spend a morning.
I left the session with a happy heart and a smile on my face.

Thank you Lynne, for sharing your family with me.

  • The Lee Family | Lifestyle Family

  • I dont hide the fact that the Lee Family are one of my absolute favourites.
When my time is over with them I am often sad that it will be a whole year before I may see them again.
Their sense of humour and easy, out going nature is effortless to photograph,
and I LOVE that when the children see me they are excited
and are comfortable with me to just be themselves .
On this particular night we had a little adventure down to Whittys Lagoon
and caught just the last of the sun.

Always hard to choose ‘favourites’ of these guys…
But these are all the ones I just loved.

    The Fantastic Lee Family.

  • Beautiful Breastfeeding Mini Sessions

  • Every Summer I look forward to the Breastfeeding Mini Sessions.
I love meeting new moms, and seeing familiar faces.
I love the conversations that it brings,
Often we chat about what the breastfeeding journey has been like for them.
Some come with fresh babies and are still figuring it all out,
Some come to the session because they are now nursing a toddler
and can feel that soon, their child may want to wean.
I love to sense of community and celebrating Motherhood in any way I can.

I am in love with every one of these photos.

Thank you Mommas for sharing a little bit of your journey with me.
I hope that these photographs are able to bring back tender memories
when one day your babies are heading off too school….

    Time goes too fast….

  • Clara | Documenting Passion

  • Deciding to take a break from the classic yearly dance portraits,
Her mom contacted me and said, “Can you capture Clara dancing. She just wants to put on music and dance”

She came with her iPod and a speaker…
She took no direction at all from me and danced.
I kept my camera ready and just watched her.

    It was Beautiful.

Only 12 years young, she has the grace of a ballerina and the sassiness of a strong willed farm girl.
She is excited by life. Excited by dance.

It was an honour for me to document her passion.
I hope you can see it in these photographs
She had me and the onlookers in the park in awe.

    Dear Clara.
Look at how AMAZING you are.

    and Thank you.
