  • Stephanie | Lifestyle Maternity

  • I met Stephanie, Ryan and little Hannah at the Ocean side.
The family had just settled in after a cross country move from Saskatchewan.
Even just the thought of having her maternity photos near the ocean
was so exciting for all of them.
Hannah spent most of her time throwing rocks into water,
    as toddler do.
In just a short while, she will become a big sister,
and I get to go visit the family in their new home once they get settled in.

I have loved getting to know them,
and look forward to many more of our sessions together
as they navigate parenthood with two beautiful girls and
    the wonderful ‘island life’.

  • The Lee Family | Lifestyle Family

  • Let me tell you about the Lees
(Every time I say that the lyrics for ‘Let me tell you about the Birds and the Bees’ pop up in my head)

Maybe Ill start by telling you all the things that I love about the Lee Family

I love that the children are excited to see me

that they are comfortable around me and are wonderfully ‘themselves’

I love their sense of humour, the whole family.

I love that each of the kids is a perfect mix of wild and compassion

I love depth of Luke and the vulnerability of Grayson
I love that Anya holds her own in a beautifully spirited way.

    I love Debs laugh.

I love watching them with their children.
Its a perfect orchestra of chaos, fun, and affection.
This is very much like my own family life,
And so I always feel completely at home when I am with them.

I love that I get to capture them year after year.

Tonight Ill leave you with the Lee Family
and its easy to see how they have become one of my very favourites

They’ll likely become your favourite too

  • Mr & Mrs Ward

  • I remember, very clearly, the day she emailed me to tell me that she was pregnant.
I had to pick up my jaw off the floor.
Newly in this relationship and what felt like the world stacked against them, my first thought was,
    “Everything happens for a reason”
That reason became clear to me the night I was with them in the delivery room.
Their connection and love was undeniable.
It was beautiful to watch and a wonderful way to bring a blessing into this world.
I came away from it knowing that they were brought together for all the right reasons.
The day they got engaged she connected me, on his recommendation.
How incredibly happy does that make me that I have been there to celebrate all these incredible moments with them.

I cried almost as many times on this day as I did the day that Brody was born.
At one point I looked at her mom and said
“Why is it every time I see you we’re crying!”

Because, these happy tears come from the most wonderful of places.
When you know in your heart of hearts that something is so right,
so incredibly right, it brings you to tears.

These two, bring me to tears.

Lastly, after my very last frame of the night,
A photo of them coming up off the dock,
the sound of the wedding party going off in the distance, the lights of the lodge glowing on the water,
Sarah said to Dave quietly behind me …
“We’re making our dreams come true”
    I smiled. How perfect.

    Sarah and Dave, thank you.
From the bottom of my heart.
What an honour to photograph your journey.

  • The Craig Family

  • I just loved this little family.
Norah and her ‘men’ met me at Blue Heron Park in Yellowpoint.
One of my favourite spots to bring families.
As usual it was perfectly wonderful, secluded and small
with great areas for the boys to do a little bit of exploring and even get their feet wet!
I loved the connection this family had and it was easy to capture it.
Never really having a ‘family photographer’ before they didn’t know what to expect.
But I think we got along just wonderfully!
Kids, Families and love are kind of my jam…and we had plenty of the here 🙂

Here are just a few of my favourites of the Craig Family!

  • Mr & Mrs Murphy | Wedding

  • I know Ive told this story a few times, but I’m going to tell you all again.
I met Dan, Kaylee and Isla around Christmas last year, when I did a family session in their new home.
About 30 seconds after I took my shoes off, I knew I was amongst friends.
The session was one of my favourites, it wasn’t just Islas beautiful eyes and cheeky grin that won me over,
But all three of them together.
I just wanted them to be my friends.
Kaylee had admitted to me that she was my ‘biggest fan’.
By the time I had left, the feeling was mutual.
Somewhere in an amongst the cuteness that day, they mentioned they were getting married in the Spring.
    My ears perked up….
Then she mentioned they were having a taco bar!
    Well…now Im sold.
I basically told them that I NEEDED to shoot their wedding.
Thankfully, they let me document their Love AND eat Tacos.
    I was in Heaven.

They had an Intimate Ceremony, seaside, in Parksville
and then we headed back to their place to party.
I cried at two different times that day.
During their heartfelt, candid and sweet vows to one another,
while each of them took turns holding a very tired Isla
and then when Dan serenaded Kaylee with an original song he wrote for her.
Not a dry eye there that night.
    Amazing.
Every Second with them fun, carefree and easy going.
Just the same as our cozy session a few months before.

I cant wait to see what happens next with this adorable family

  • The Rodgers Family

  • I like to keep things pretty casual.
    Lets kids just be themselves.
This couldn’t be more true for the Rodgers family with their two boys.
This age in particular, kids (especially boys) are not keen on getting their photo taken.
So I let them take breaks, explore, pick up creepy things and then every so often come back to love their parents, how they want to.
To me, thats what makes a session.
And hopefully some great photos come out of, like the ones here.
The boys didn’t hold back for me, and I loved capturing them.
The session was filled with laughter, wet willies, fart jokes and the occasional mention of green boogers.
    Perfect.
I cant think of a better way to spend my saturday night.

Here are some of my favourites of the Rodgers Family!

  • Sadie & Cohen

  • The Greatest Compliment I can receive is when a family emails me to say they want me to photograph them again.
That means they liked me just as much as I liked them…haha
Andrea and Kevin met me on one of favourites beaches on a cold spring day,
colder than what we all thought it would be.
So the kids kept their coats on and took lots of breaks playing in the sand.
We had snacks and a little bit of fun, cold or not, it didn’t stop us.

Here are just a few of my favourites to share with you!

  • Henry | Lifestyle Family Portraits

  • The last time I saw Henry and his Moms I was quietly slipping out of their hospital room,
leaving the new family to get to know one another.
All night Victoria laboured and when it was time, it was Andies hands that helped bring him into the world.
And an amazing moment and one Ill never forget.

One year later I am so happy to see them again,
    and look at Handsome Henry!
What a stunning family they are.
Even his wonderful grandparents came for a few photos,
and so I really got a feel for the love that makes up Henrys world.

    What a lucky little man.
I cant wait to see them all again

  • The Bestwicks | Maternity & Lifestyle Newborn

  • It is so incredibly wonderful to re connect with people you knew from what feels like a million years ago
    (also known as High School)
Ive known Sarah for almost 20 years, it seems crazy to say that, but I have.
So I was absolutely delighted when I got an email saying she wanted me to help her and Brett celebrate this journey.
At 36 weeks pregnant I met them on a stormy night, ocean side.
It was amazing and likely one of my favourite shoots to date.
Their connection is undeniable and the unbelievable sky we had was the perfect backdrop to Sarahs gorgeous growing belly.

About a week later I received a cell phone photo of a fresh baby girl.
    Surprise!
She wrote “Thankfully we took the maternity photos when we did because she came early!”
    I just love surprises.
Sweet little Isabelle Eveline was born healthy on September 7th weighing a wee 5 lbs 9 ounces.
Just the sweetest little thing with a full head of dark hair.
I met her about a week later when I was welcomed into the Bestwicks beautiful home,
    now a family of three.

Honestly I could share every frame this family is so beautiful,
I had goosebumps as I went through them.
I am so grateful to be witness to such love.

    Thank you Sarah and Brett,
Your Journey is just beginning and you are off on a wonderful start

  • Lynne & her Beautiful Family

  • I have a feeling I am not the only one in this life who is enchanted by Lynne.
She is the kind of woman, when you are in her presence she immediately makes you feel at ease.
There is a sparkle in her eye, and a kindness in her voice that made me feel as though I could cuddle up bedside her all day.
Maybe thats strange to some, but I know that her three beautiful daughters would agree with me.
The’ve likely been witnessing that ‘pull’ to her, their whole lives.
They are a strong family. All of them survivors in one way or another.
And while its not my story to tell, I hope that though these images you can feel that strength,
that love and the bond they all share.

And I didn’t just photograph the immediate family, I photographed the WHOLE family!
All the people closest to Lynne (Minus a few who couldn’t be there)
What a wonderful bunch they are and what a wonderful way for me to spend a morning.
I left the session with a happy heart and a smile on my face.

Thank you Lynne, for sharing your family with me.

  • Pywell Family | Lifestyle Family Portraits

  • The Pywell Family are one of my oldest and dearest clients.
    They have become my family.
I was there when Carter was born and photograph them yearly, or sometimes more 😉
When I get to see a family that often through my lens,
I feel like I see more than what I would normally.
I witness the glue, the stitching that holds the family together when Im documenting their story, over time.
This year we not only documented the growth of these three beautiful children,
but we celebrated Amber as well.
Last year, on the very day of our session, Amber was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer.
So this last year has been a year of heartache and triumph.
Stronger than ever, we dont always document the happy moments,
we document the struggles as well.
All part of the tapestry that is a family.
    All of it worth remembering.

  • Noah | Celebrating Graduation

  • If I could adopt a family, it would be the Hendricks family.
Their inappropriate humour and entertaining ‘self proclaimed’ dysfunction makes me feel right at home.
I did however happen to stop laughing for a moment to take some decent family portraits
in celebration of their oldest Noah, Graduating High school.

Let me tell you about Noah for a sec…
From the moment I met him I liked him, and that was 5 years ago.
Im fairly certain he has better work ethic than most of the adults I know and better money managing skills.
He’s smart. So Smart. But not just books, worldly.
He is the kind of man that I’m going to say “I knew that amazing kid” one day..

His date and fellow graduate for this occasion, his childhood friend Annika.
Together since they were 7 years old, they hit many milestones together and this may be one of the last
before they both head off into the world.

    Thank you Hendricks family.
    Thank you Noah.
The next time I see you in front of my lens….may be your wedding day 😉
