We realized it was just a little over a year when I was last in the Bence/Holloway household.
Little Arthur, the sweetest little Christmas Eve baby, was settled in at home.
After the birth and into the new year, I headed there to document them as a family of four
and that was the last time I’d seen them.
Victoria and Andie have been wonderful to me.
Inviting into both of their birth spaces
and into their home to celebrate the life they have built with their beautiful boys.
I was so excited to come back again and see how they were doing in ‘life’ with two kids running around.
No surprises that even though the day to day of parenting has its ups and downs,
these boys are so happy and love their mamas <3
I’m the lucky one that gets to capture that <3

It was about half way through this session that I smiled quietly to myself
 I watched Rob and Megan take in their newest baby upstairs and downstairs and we listened to the older siblings happily play with their littlest sister.
They had just finished a big Saturday morning pancake breakfast when I came in, the house was bustling with activity.
How wonderful. 
Little Oscar has been born into a big family, surrounded by all his brothers and sisters. 
They are Blended, Beautiful and full of life, Big & Small.
I was happy to be with them, happy to document them and each image has me smiling from ear to ear.
I know they will have you smiling too.

You are one lucky little man!

This is Nathan. 
He lives with his big brother Bennett, his two Mamas and a puppy who all love him very much. 
I came to meet him just after Christmas. 
The last time I saw this family, Bennett was just wee in his mamas arms
and now, both of their arms are delightfully full with these two beautiful boys. 

I loved our slow morning of snuggles, superhero and cookie snacks.

I love the way this family loves! 
Having worked with Selina professionally for 5 years,
It is only in the last year that I have been invited into their family. 
I am so lucky. 
Documenting her become a grandmother was a highlight in my career, 
and staying close and connected with everyone of them
has been so important and wonderful to me
….because you cant have too much of a good thing right?? lol 

Selina and Josh are parenting goals.
I can only hope that when my kids are older they love me much the same as this. 
I can only hope when John and I become grandparents that we look and feel just like this…
They are soaking up every minute of this new phase of life together 
…and im just the lucky one that gets to capture it.

Whoever said that Extended Family Sessions were boring
has never photographed the Mountain Family!
15 of them assembled themselves on the family property
which is nestled up against the fields of Porters Farm. 
As I tried to assemble them as best I could, a smile never left my face. 
Ive known the family for a long time and so spending time with them felt like ‘old times’ 
When I was having dinner and sleepovers and John and Cindys place, I was as old as some of their grandchildren are now! 

The end of our session was spent taking some time out for a few Promo shots of “The Porter Brothers” 
The three boys of Brianne and Ian Porter are a local hit on the music scene. 
They’ve got a lot of support, especially from their family. 

Im happy the whole family put up with me as long as they did
and I came home with a big bag of homegrown corn 
and some pretty great memories to go along with these photos. 

Have a cup of coffee and spend some time with John, Cindy and the people they love most.

Can I  say that this is one of my favourite sessions?!?! 
Well…Im going to…
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SESSIONS!
The Light! The energy! (I love energetic kids) 
Those toothy grins… and check out the eyes on each and every one of them!
I’m sold. 

Alana and Adam shared their boys with me one Summer evening and we had a great time. 
I feel at home surrounded by boys, so we made jokes, did armpit farts and I let them just be themselves. 

The result is this beautiful session. 

Im excited to share a few here that I have had picked as my ‘faves’
and I cannot wait to see which ones the Cornett family loves as their favourites.

Two days after I spent an evening with the Hewitt Family,
Scott and Betty celebrated 35 years of marriage. 
When I asked them both what the secret was (Scott gave me a cheeky answer of course…lol) 
But they both agreed that laughter was a big part of their happiness. 

I saw that in the time I spent with them. 

They’ve raised three incredible children. 
And have created a life full of love. 
I was grateful and happy to be able to capture just a little bit
of what they have built for themselves that night. 

Here are just a few favourites of my time with them…..

Shauna asked me to meet them in Qualicum Bay. 
On a beach her and her family had walked almost her entire life. 
Familiar and full of amazing memories and places, we enjoyed the view, the beach and the last of the sunshine. 
This place is full of familiarity down to the special rocks uncovered by the tide, and covered in sea anemones. 
All of these things held tight in the hearts of the boys and her. 

I have personally known the family for a few years, 
Our oldest boys went to school together and in the past two years, she has been a kindergarten teacher to both my youngest children. 
To say that we cherish her would be an understatement. 
She loves my children as if they were her own, she nurtures them and each and every day they look forward to seeing her. 
In situations like this it is hard to give thanks, 
and while my gift to her is much different I hope that gratitude shines through.
What an incredible honour to be in this place with them. 
What an honour to be able to capture the love she gives to her boys. 

A few of my favourites, 
Here is Shauna and her boys, Drey & Kade. 

Heather wanted something authentic to them.
And so I suggested that I come over, and just spend the morning with them.
She told me I could come in my PJ’s, that they would all still be in theirs.

How wonderful.

There is a certain sense of vulnerability with these kinds of sessions.
And even she didn’t really know what this would look like.
I knew…because I can see it as its happening.
In showing her and Kory the sneak peeks from our session a few days later
she told me that they were perfect.
That they made her fall in love with her boys all over again.
Can’t say that I blame her,
the boys, all of them, including Kory…are wonderful.
And capturing their sweet personalities
in the home that the love and are growing up in,
was a dream.

One day, when she is gone, her family will have theses images,
tangible memories of her as a mother, them together as a family
and a little window into how blessed they are.
Totally ordinary moments, filled with love and adventure.

The moments of our everyday become the map of who we are.
To me they are the most important things to document.
And what we treasure most in our hearts.

I hope you enjoy my morning with the Eastman Family.
I sure did.
And I cant wait to come back again next year.

When I walk into a home of a family that has just had a new baby,
the story I try and capture is about, not only that baby,
but everyone in the household.
Their story and how they are connected,
is just as important to me.
And that wee Baby is in the very centre of a wonderful story.

This is especially true in homes where there is an older sibling.

Parker has just become a big brother.
His world is all dinosaurs and Thomas the Train,
and now…little Nash is there too.

The sudden bursts of interaction, the little bits of frustration,
the juggle, the boundaries…
the Love.
All a part of it.
Those are the things I love to see.
They dont last long, soon the boys will be playing trains together,
so its this fleeting moment in time we like to hang onto.

This is the Anderson Family.
Now a Beautiful Family of Four,
and Welcoming a sweet little baby boy, called Nash.
